ELLSWORTH – Rev. Raymond Murchie, 88, ascended into the Lords arms Jan. 21, 2004. He was reunited with his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris Moran Murchie, who went before him on Jan. 11, 2004. He was born March 18, 1915, in Unity, the son of Albert and Eva (White) Murchie. He graduated from Hodgdon High School, attended Bangor Theological Seminary, graduated from Boston University Pastor’s School, and was ordained Elder in the Maine Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The lives of many were touched by his compassionate and kindhearted ways throughout his 23 years of service in which he served in the towns of Orland, Penobscot, E. Bucksport, Bucksport, Mapleton, Washburn, Surry, Ellsworth, Franklin, N. Bucksport, and Columbia. He is survived by three sons, Rev. Robert Murchie and wife, Mary, Barry and wife, Regina, and John Murchie; one sister, Elizabeth Plante and husband, Emile; and one brother, Donald and wife, Dee. He blessed the lives of each of his seven grandchildren, Denise Gallop, Jolene Grillander, Robert Murchie Jr., Cort Murchie, Heidi Bailey, Rebecca Stone and Raymond Murchie III; and also 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters. He will be greatly missed and will live in the hearts of many. A memorial service will be held at the Franklin Street Methodist Church, Bucksport, at a date and time to be announced.
