GRAND ISLE and MADAWASKA – Rhella M. Deschaine, 81, died July 12, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at a Madawaska healthcare facility after a long illness. She was born May 13, 1925, in Madawaska, the daughter of Willie and Alma (Cyr) Michaud. She loved to cook big family meals and work in the garden with her husband. They would often sell vegetables from their garden in Madawaska. She also enjoyed knitting slippers for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Les Dames Des St. Anne for many years. Rhella is survived by her husband of 62 years, George Emile Deschaine of Grand Isle; four sons, Ron and his wife, Marie, Danny and his wife, Donna, Real and his wife, Annie, and Guy and his wife, Barbara, all of Madawaska; one daughter, Diane Thibeault, also of Madawaska; one daughter-in-law, Claudette Deschaine; two sisters, Alphena Cyr and Corrine Dufour, both of Madawaska; one brother, Albenie of Solon; 14 grandchildren, Shirley, Tonia, Connie, Don, Dina, Dan, Amy, Angel, Kendra, Casey, Chelsea, Becky, Carla, Tracy; 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Norman in 1971; one brother, Aurel; and two sisters, Lucy Ouellette and Marie Michaud. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. David Church, St. David. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
