HERMON – Richard A. Wescott, 55, died May 9, 2008, at his home, after a long courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife and daughters by his side. He was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Bangor, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Hawkes) Wescott. He was raised in Hermon and attended Hermon schools. After high school, Richard served a short time in the U.S. Army before his returning home to the Hermon area to raise his family and begin a long career in the automotive field. He was known within the automotive field for his auto bodywork throughout the years. He worked for several years as paint manager at Steego Auto Paint, prior to opening Wescott Motors, Inc., where he got the nicknames “Dicky Dupont” and “Tricky Dicky.” Richard was most proud of being a father to his two daughters, whom he adored. He married Linda Merrill in 1989. Those who knew him will always remember him as a loving devoted husband and father, who would move mountains for those he loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Wescott of Hermon; his two adoring daughters, Mercedes Germon and her fiance, Dana Sonnie, of South Portland and Angela Wescott of Saco; his brothers, Earl Wescott and his wife, Lilo, of Florida and Gerald Wescott and his wife, Cathy, of Orrington; nieces and nephews, Sheryl and her husband, George, Jamie Wescott and his wife, Sandra, and Lana Wescott and her husband, Paul; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; special family friend and much like a daughter, Jamie Stitham of Saco; special thanks to a longtime friend, Moe Blanchard of Kenduskeag; and many other extended friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Rodney Wescott. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev.
