DANVERS, Mass. and STEUBEN – Richard B. Whalen, 77, of Rogers Point Road, Steuben, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody, Mass. He was born July 23, 1927, in Belfast, the son of the late Raleigh A. and Ola (Redman) Whalen. He was raised and educated in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Richard is survived by two daughters, Sharon DeChiara and her husband, Michael, of Gloucester, Mass., and Rebecca R. DeSantis of Lynn, Mass.; one son, Patrick W. Whalen and his wife, Kathleen, of Hopkinton, Mass.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Maple Street Congregational Church, Danvers, Mass. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers, Mass. Burial 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, in the Steuben Cemetery, Steuben.
