HAMPDEN – Richard E. “Dick” Wight, 63, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 12, 2005, in Bangor. He was born in Lewiston, April 18, 1941, the son of Richard F. and Jane (Donahue) Wight. Richard was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1960 where he was a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Scholar. He attended Bentley and Husson College where he majored in Accounting. Richard was and accountant and owned his own accounting business. He was very active in Little League Baseball and Youth Football. He had been both a successful coach and manager. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and loved fishing with his fishing buddy and niece, Rhonda. He was a former member of the Hampden Jaycees. He is survived by his father, Richard F. Wight; a daughter, Sherri and her fianc?, Knut, of Fountain Inn, S.C.; one sister, Sandra McCarthy and her husband, Howard of Marengo, Ill.; two brothers, Raymond N. Wight of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Robert A. Wight of Broken Arrow, Okla.; nieces, nephews, cousins; and his extended family, Donnie, Joyce, Shawn, Dennis and Chuck Cook and their families. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa, in 1989; and by his mother, in 1990. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Dick Woehr, officiating. Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment in the springtime will be in Riverview Cemetery, Hampden.
