HOWLAND – Richard F. Thompson Sr., 74, husband of Patricia (Blake) Thompson, died May 20, 2006, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Lincoln, the son of Frederick Thompson and Ruth (Lancaster) Vigue. Richard attended Howland schools. He was very active in his community, serving on the board of selectmen, and was involved in the Howland Fire Department. He was instrumental in maintaining the town skating rink, was past president of the Twin Rivers Snowmobile Club, who had dedicated a trail in his name. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 168 of Lagrange. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He always looked forward to hunting camp every year and enjoyed his camp on West Lake. He also enjoyed his motorcycle trips and trips to Las Vegas, Nev. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by six children, Vanessa McElroy and her husband, Keith, Diane Williams and her husband, Greg, Rick Thompson and his wife, Judy, Jean Cyr and her husband, Leo, Kelly Harris and her husband, Ricky and Carol Moon and her husband, Hollis; siblings, Pauline Doane and her husband, Milton, Raymond Thompson and his wife, Carolyn and Dorothy Williams and her husband, William; stepmother, Della Thompson; nine grandchildren, Jodi, Billie Jo, Amy, Aaron, Cody, Molly, Nathan, Adam and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Timothy Vigue; and two sisters, Alice Rinas and Dallas Parker. Funeral services will be private.
