RICHARD L. MARTIN MADAWASKA – Richard L. Martin, 73, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his residence in Madawaska. He was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Fort Kent, the son of Leo and Anna (Cyr) Martin. Richard worked at Fraser Paper Ltd. for 35 years in many different capacities. His last position at Fraser Papers was steam plant superintendent. He also served on many different committees both at the town level and in the church. After he retired in 1991, he became an altar server and remained very dedicated to his church in the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Richard was an avid golfer and snowmobiler. He also became very proficient at making stained glass. His family and friends benefited greatly from this talent. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ella (Dube) Martin of Madawaska; two sons, Daniel of Olathe, Kan. and Wayne and his wife, Jennifer, of Olsburg, Kan.; one daughter, Gisele Carbonneau and her husband, Denis, of Essex Junction, Vt.; He was a loving grandfather to Erin Carbonneau and Taylor, Remy and Nathanael Martin. He was predeceased by his parents and by his only brother, Gerald. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitations at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call at the church one hour prior to the services to greet family and friends.
