MILLINOCKET – Richard Q. Hatfield, 81, died at the East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills, Fla., Monday, June 13, 2005. He was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Houlton, the son of Cecil J. and Oris (Grant) Hatfield. He was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1941. He was employed at the Great Northern Paper Company for 37 years retiring in 1978 as Production Coordinator. He was a member of the Millinocket Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Mac-Kenzie) Hatfield; one daughter, Peggy and her husband, Glenn Sampson, of Windsor, Conn.; two sons and their wives, Robert and Carolee Gates of Bloomberg, Penn., and Willis and Catherine Gates, of Millinocket; five granddaughters, Billie-Jo Shorey of Portsmouth, N.H., Kelly Gates Makie of Thomaston, Kathryn Sampson Delacourt of Nice, France, Elizabeth Sampson of Windsor, Conn. and Mari-Elise Gates of Bloomsberg, Penn.; one great-grandson, Ryan Delacourt of Nice, France; two special nieces, Deborah Litchfield of Sumner and Margaret Kidd of Alexandria, Va. He was predeceased by three sisters; one brother; and a son, Joseph Gates. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck, interim pastor of Millinocket Baptist Church, will officiate.
