BAILEYVILLE – Richard “Dickie” W. Treat, 46, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 12, 2005. He was born Oct. 14, 1958, in Belfast, the son of William H. and Maxine (Grant) Treat. He graduated from Washington Academy in 1976. Richard graduated from NMVTI in Presque Isle in 1980, with an associates degree in Auto Body. He served as a private first class in the Marine Corps from October 1981 to September 1982. He worked for Alco Welding, in Meddybemps, for several years. He then worked at Georgia Pacific OSB Division and was presently working for Domtar Industries. While at Domtar, he was vice president of his union, UPIU Local 27. Richard enjoyed his work very much. He loved spending time with his children. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Maxine and Lewis Huntley, of East Machias; children, Joshua Treat and Adam Treat, both of Machias; mother of his children, Ruth Treat, of Machias; three brothers, Stephen Treat and his wife, Jackie, of Memphis, Tenn., Newell Huntley and his wife, Kraisai, of Houston, Texas, Edward Huntley and his wife, Terri, of Surry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, William Treat. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, with Everett Farnsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cherryfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Machias Savings Bank, care of Jennifer Tuell, P.O. Box 318, Machias, ME 04654 for his children’s education.
