PEMBROKE – Richard Weldon True, 64, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at his home. He was born April 24, 1943, in Augusta, the son of Robert C. and Virginia (Hewett) True. He grew up in Winthrop and was a graduate of Winthrop High School. After high school, Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964, attaining the rank of tech. 4. When he returned from the service, Richard took additional courses and became a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked for John Deere, Portland and Bangor, and later for the State of Maine Department of Transportation. Richard was most recently self- employed in Pembroke. Mr. True helped both the Pembroke and Dennysville Fire Departments with their equipment. In his younger years, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when he was stationed in Alaska. Richard is survived by his brothers, James True of Winthrop and Peter True of Reading, Mass.; his sister, Ellen True of Hallowell; his special friend, Sue Woodman and her family; several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Winthrop Cemetery.
