MILLINOCKET – Richard William Angotti, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, after a long illness at his home. He was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Millinocket, the son of Bruno and Marie (Madore) Angotti. Richard was a graduate of Stearns High School and attended the University of Chicago. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and went on to serve in the Maine State Guard. Richard was employed as an instrument superintendent for Wade and Searway Construction Corp. after retiring from the Great Northern Paper Co. with 43 years of service. He also served as a member of the Millinocket Town Council, Budget Committee, Zoning Board and the Water Quality Review Board. He was nominated by his party to run for the Maine Senate after many years of service as the Democrat town chairman. Richard was a retired member of Local Union No. 471 I.B.E.W. and served as its president for eight years. He was also a member of the Francis E. Elliott Post No. 4154, VFW. Richard is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce (Dunbar) Angotti; his children, Richard Angotti Jr. and his wife, Brenda, and Rodney Angotti and his wife, Ada, all of Millinocket, Ruth “Kate” Lane and her fiance, Sid, of Durham, Roxanne and her husband, Dr. Michael Bosse, Dr. Robin Rider and her husband, Dinh, all of North Carolina; his stepchildren, Bonnie Riox and her husband, Gary, of North Carolina, Donald Holland and his wife, Carolyn, Jerri Cohen, Cinde Jasper and her husband, Barry, and Jennifer Hall, all of Millinocket, and Kristy Goodwin and her husband, Jim, of New Hampshire; three brothers, Franklin Angotti and his wife, Anita, of Caribou, Bernard Angotti and his wife, Brenda, and Robert Angotti and his wife, Linda, all of Millinocket; sisters, Rita McMahon, Corinne Johnson and Brenda Brunette, all of Millinocket, Beverly Luke of Westbrook, JoAnn Hetherington and her husband, George, of Belle Mead, N.J., Phyllis “Jean” Macri and her husband, Dominic, of Baltimore; a sister-in-law, Shirley Angotti of Banning, Calif.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard is also survived by the mother of his children, Ruth Jewell of North Carolina. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Webb and Randolph. Friends are invited to visit with the family 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Bouchard – Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, with funeral services beginning 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lyn Bradley officiating. Graveside committal services with military honors will be held in the springtime at Millinocket Cemetery, Millinocket.
