BANGOR – Rita Baron, 92, died Aug. 29, 2005, at her home in Bangor. She was born Dec. 22, 1912, in Waterville, the daughter of Phillip and Jennie (Shiro) Baron. Rita held many positions in the community, probably best remembered as one of the city’s first crossing guards. She was a fixture on State Street. Rita was a rare individual who put the welfare of others ahead of her own well-being. She took care of both family and friends alike. Rita was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel in Bangor. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and sisters-in-law; and many longtime friends. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, Center Street, Bangor. Interment was at Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor.
