LIMESTONE – Robert E. Godfrey, 58, beloved husband of Mary V. (Moore) Godfrey, died un-expectedly June 10, 2005, on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, the result of a boating accident. He was born Dec. 14, 1946, at Bangor, the son of Philip and Mary C. (Moore) Godfrey. A graduate of Bangor High School, he attended both Beals Business College and Husson College before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the service, he worked as a civil service boiler operator at the former Loring Air Force base. After the closure of that base, he found employment at the DFAS facility on the former base, and had been there ever since. Robert loved the great outdoors and was always either fishing or hunting in the Maine woods. He was also a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Obar-Phair Post American Legion, both of Limestone. He is survived by his wife of 31 years of Limestone; one son, Randy Gleason and his wife, Anita, of Dixmont; three daughters, Mary-Anne Burress and her husband, Matthew, of Grand Isle, Danielle Ellis and her husband, Toby, of Caswell; Robyn Godfrey and her fianc?, Darin St. Pierre Jr., of Limestone; one brother, Philip Godfrey and his wife, Pat, of Florida; one sister, Sally Huntley and her husband, Ira, of Hampden; nine grandchildren, Dustin, Sierra, and Jenna Burress, Joshua and Olivia Ellis, Cadence St. Pierre, Kimberly, Carrie-Ruth, and Jewel-Leigh Gleason; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, George “Sonny” Godfrey, James Godfrey Sr., and Richard Godfrey. Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, with Fr. Jean-Paul LaBrie, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Maine Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330. Envelopes will be available at both the church and the funeral home.
