SLOCUM, R.I. – Robert G. Fitzpatrick, 69, a former Washington County sheriff, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at home surrounded by family and friends. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Clark) Fitzpatrick. Born in Lexington, Mass., he was the son of Medston P. (Spooner) Doyle of Houlton and the late Lawrence Fitzpatrick. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee (outfit MCB121) veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Fitzpatrick was a Washington County Sheriff for 17 years. He was also appointed to do Weights & Measures for 10 years. He was a member of the F.O.P. Lodge 33 and the American Legion Post 12. In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves two sons, Blaise J. Fitzpatrick of Atlanta, Ga., and Bruce J. Fitzpatrick of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three stepsons, David B. and Russell A. Glawson, both of North Kingstown, R.I. and Frank J. Glawson of Hopkinton, R.I.; a stepdaughter, Cathryn A. Wirth of North Kingstown, R.I.; three sisters, Martha J. Clark of Madison, Ala., Barbara H. Bossie and Tonya L. Corbett, both of Houlton; and 15 grandchildren. The funeral with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery Columbarium, South County Trail, Route 2, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Fagan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown.
