FORT FAIRFIELD – Robert H. Chasse, 60, husband of Mrs. Patricia (West) Chasse, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, 2008, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born April 26, 1947, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Harold L. and Shirley E. (Deschesne) Chasse. He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam for two years. He was married to Patricia West, Oct. 26, 1973, was a lifelong communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, a life member of VFW Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599, Presque Isle, and was a volunteer firefighter for Fort Fairfield Fire Department for several years. Robert was a caring husband, father and grandfather, and was a hardworking man who enjoyed hunting and trapping with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Harold L. Chasse; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Chasse. He is survived by his mother, Shirley E. Chasse; his wife of 34 years, Patricia Chasse; one son, Philip Chasse, all of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Angela R. Chasse of Presque Isle, Bobbie Jo C. King and her husband, Raymond, of Caribou; five brothers and sisters-in-law, David Chasse of Masardis, Dana and Donna Chasse of Mars Hill, James and Brenda Chasse of Presque Isle, Joseph and Beverly Chasse of Fort Fairfield, Timothy and Jennifer Chasse of Mars Hill; one sister, Cynthia J. Lacroix and her special friend, Larry Adler, both of Fort Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Shawn Chasse of Fort Fairfield, Troy Soucy Jr. of Caribou, Desiree Kelley of Pennsylvania, Jasmine King and Hunter King, both of Caribou, Riley Alley, Braighton Alley, Addison Pelkey, all of Presque Isle; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. by the officers and members of VFW Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599, Presque Isle. A vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. Spring interment will take place at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Caribou.
