MILLINOCKET – Robert J. Hallett Sr., 73, died May 1, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Millinocket, the son of John G. and Celina (Milliard) Hallett. A lifelong resident of Millinocket, Bob was a member of the Class of 1948 Stearns High School. He served with the National Guard from 1952-1970, during which time he served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1953-1955. Bob worked for Great Northern Paper Co. in Millinocket from 1946 until his retirement in 1987. He was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and a life member of St. Martin of Tours Council Knights of Columbus. Bob was a member of Francis E. Elliott Post No. 4154 VFW, a life member of Donald V. Henry Post No. 80 American Legion, Bernard L. Coro Chapter No. 22, D.A.V., and the former Kiwanis Club. Bob was a hard worker and good provider for his family. He was a good friend to all and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He died surrounded by his loving family who stayed by his side until the end. His special friend, Jack R., gave great comfort to him during his hospital stay. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Howard) Oakes Hallett of Millinocket; four children, Robert J. Hallett Jr. and fianc_e, Janet Dayton, of Ayer, Mass., Marcia Jean and husband, James Homstead, of Augusta, Patty Ann and husband, Mike Demers, of Millinocket, and Jeffrey M. Hallett of Bangor; a stepdaughter, Kathy Lynn and husband, Jared Lasher, of Wethersfield, Conn.; his siblings, Ramona Bouchard of Charlton, Mass., Bill Hallett of Millinocket, Evelyn Hallett of East Millinocket, Edna Mae Mackin, Charles Hallett and Edward Hallett, all of Millinocket; a half-sister, Jacqueline Johnson of Atwater, Calif.; five grandchildren, Marcy Jean Demers and her companion, Tom Anderson, Michael Demers Jr., David Levesque, Patty Ann Levesque, and Sophia Hallett; one great-grandson, Brandon Michael Anderson; many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and godchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marlene J. (Martin) Hallett, in 1994; and a brother-in-law, George “Buster” Martin, in 2004. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
