JONESPORT – Bob McCollum, 76, husband of Ann M. McCollum, entered heaven on June 23, 2004, following a lengthy illness. He was born April 22, 1928, in Jonesport, the son Marion (Davis) Mason of Jonesport, and the late Charles “Bob” McCollum. After high school, he moved to Marblehead, Mass., where he was a launch driver at the old Boston Yacht Club and a cook onboard the Gladlar, out of Marblehead Harbor. In 1949, he married his wife, Ann, and went to work in the printing field for Commercial Printing in Lynn, Mass. He later co-founded Four Star Printing Co., and worked there until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid golfer and boater and loved his family more than life. He will be greatly missed by his family members including his wife of 55 years, Ann (Murphy) McCollum; his mother, Marion Mason; and his six children, Mary Ann Newhall and her husband, Charlie, of Marblehead, Mass., Charles and his wife, Betty, of Woburn, Mass., Robert Jr. of Toronto, Ontario, LuAnn Darrell of Marblehead, Mass., Patricia Ann Vry and her husband, Jacques, of Cary, N.C., and Douglas and his wife, Diane, of Danvers, Mass.; and a daughter-in-law, Linda (Baldwin) McCollum of Marblehead, Mass.; his sisters, Betty Black and Jean Parnell, both of Jonesport; brother, Kirby McCollum and his wife, Marilyn, of Leonardtown, Md. He leaves two aunts, Thelma McCollum and Charlotte Crowley; and an uncle, Frank McCollum and his wife, Ethel, along with many nieces and nephews. His outstanding personality and strengths can be found in each of his 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Newhall) Brack, Leanne Newhall and her fianc?, Phil, Michael Darrell and his fianc?, Jen, Chad McCollum and his wife, Wendy, Amy Newhall and her fianc?, Michael, Seth McCollum, Jacqueline Vry, Sean McCollum, Caroline Vry, David McCollum, Nathalie Vry, Matthew McCollum and Kevin McCollum. Believe it or not he was able to teach his three great-grandchildren how to sneak him candy, Damian Newhall, Jacob and Tyler Brack. He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Lawrence, in 1999. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Greenwood Cemetery, with Pastor George Woodward officiating.
