DRESDEN – Robert Nordmann Haven, 70, beloved husband and father, died Dec. 28, 2003, in his home with his wife at his side. Born Dec. 5, 1933 in Edinburg, Texas, where he grew up. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois. He served in the Navy for five years, and worked as a technical writer while completing his master’s degree in Computer Education at Tufts University. He was Director of Project Local for 14 years. He moved to Dresden, building their own home. For 27 years, Bob ran his business specializing in computer education and worked as the Maine Director of EPIE Institute. Bob was very busy in volunteer work in Dresden and was Chair of both the Library and the Bridge Academy Grant Committee. Bob was foremost a loving, devoted, and giving family man, who was well liked and respected. Bob was predeceased by his loving parents, Clarence and Helen Haven; his in-laws Myron and Lois Young; and his brother-in-law, Bert Rogers. He leaves his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Haven; his son Dana and daughter-in-law, Martha Haven of Millinocket, and their three children; his daughter, Jennifer Lauren Haven of Gardiner, and her daughter; a sister, Dorothy Rogers of Edinburg, Texas. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Dresden Elementary School on Cedar Grove Road, Dresden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for a college fund for his grandchildren.
