MONSON – Robert R. Routhier, 71, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at his home. He was born in New Bedford, Mass., son of the late Rene and Alice V. (Sivigny) Routhier. He had lived in Westport, Mass., for most of his life prior to moving to Maine in 2000. He was a graduate of Westport High School, Class of 1955. He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator with the Local 57 Union of Rhode Island until his retirement in 1991. He also owned and operated Civil War Collectables of Maine, where he was a renowned expert in Civil War artifacts and history. Mr. Routhier served in the Sea Bees during the Korean War and was a member of the National Rifle Association and a volunteer firefighter for the town of Westport for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved his chocolate Labrador retriever named Katie. Survivors include four daughters, Susan J. Sharpe of Westport, Mass., Cynthia A. Olivier of Maine, Janet M. McNulty of Westport, Mass., and Catherine M. Routhier of Rehoboth, Mass.; one sister, Jeanne Warner of Westport, Mass.; one granddaughter, Elizabeth A. DaSilva; and former wife, Virginia V. Routhier. Funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held 9 a.m. Monday, July 2, from Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, Mass., with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport, Mass.
