ORLAND – Robert S. Willey, 80, died peacefully May 8, 2008, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Cherryfield, the son of Percy and Lillian (Earhard) Willey. He was educated in Cherryfield schools, studied to be a Merchant Marine at Sheepscot Bay School, New York, and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II. He worked 26 years for the city of Nashua, N.H. When he retired, he was a utility and street inspector. Robert enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, traveling and especially loved being with his grandchildren. He spent 13 winters living in Florida. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diane (Maguire) Willey of Orland; daughter, Earlene Berube of Manchester, N.H.; son, Robert S. Willey II and wife, Danille, of Hudson, N.H.; five stepchildren, William Taylor and wife, Bonnie, of Orland, Beth Taylor of Orland, Blair Taylor and wife, Heidi, of Orland, Beverly Scully and husband, Scott, of Hudson, N.H., and Barbie Cogswell and husband, John, of Goffstown, N.H.; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Earlene Willey in 1983; and brother, Wendell Willey in 1991. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
