HAMPDEN – Roberta L. Arsenault passed away Nov. 15, 2006, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. With the support of her family and friends she took on the challenges of her illness with remarkable resilience, strength and determination. She was born May 21, 1940, in Patten. Roberta cherished spending time at her family camp on Swan Lake. She took great satisfaction in pleasing everyone with her “special” talents of cooking. Dancing to any tunes that would inspire her was one of her favorite passions. Roberta treasured the opportunities to travel in recent years with family and friends to the Bahamas, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Surviving family members include her loving husband of 46 years, Eugene L. Arsenault of Hampden; oldest son, Eugene Arsenault II and his wife, Jackie; their children, Lance and Megan, of Embden; son, Mark Arsenault and his wife, Tracey; their children, Moneia, Bryce and Elise, of Hampden; daughter, Lynne Veinote and her husband, David; their children, Erika and Jenna; son, Donald Arsenault and his two children, Donald II and Cameron, all of Hampden. Roberta is also survived by her sister, Juanita Lane of Medway; brothers, Dana Young of Westminster, Md., Ora Young of Winterport, Roy Young of Silver Ridge and Leland Hatt of New Haven, Conn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Roberta was predeceased by her mother, Genevieve Hatt; father, Albert Young; stepfather, Boynton Hatt; brother, Sonny Young; and sister, Doreen Glidden; and a special neighbor and friend, “Geet” McNally. The family would like to thank the staff of CancerCare of Maine, as well as the staff of New Hope Hospice for their kind and thoughtful services. A memorial service celebrating Roberta’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Hampden, officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
