PORTAGE LAKE – Roderick E. Belanger, 67, died Oct. 18, 2003, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born in Wallagrass Jan. 5, 1936, the son of Yvon and Alice (Michaud) Belanger. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Dick was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council of Ashland, the Fourth Degree Assembly of Presque Isle, and was also a 50-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was self-employed as a logger for many years until his disability several years ago. In addition to his mother of Eagle Lake, he is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Gloria (Bolstridge) Belanger of Portage Lake; one daughter, Lynn Morneault of Sweet Home, Ore.; four sons, Andrew Belanger, Stephen Belanger, Alan Belanger and his wife, Nola, all of Portage Lake, Gary Belanger and his wife, Lori, of Ashland; two brothers, Gerard Belanger of Hudson, N.H.; Richard Belanger of Sanford; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandson. In addition to his father, Dick was predeceased by a brother, Reynold Belanger in 1992. There will be no visiting hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Our Lady of Lake Catholic Church, Portage Lake, with Rev. Scott Mower, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be in the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
