LINCOLN and ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla.- Roderick E. Osgood, husband of the late Marjorie M. (Dorman) Osgood, passed away peacefully, April 29, 2006, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born June 1, 1923, in Prentiss, the son of Benjamin and Flora (Morrison) Osgood. He served in France during World War II. He and his wife owned and operated Osgood’s Department Store, retiring in 1976. They then moved to Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement, moving back to their Maine residence summers. Rod enjoyed real estate, hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling and visiting old and making new friends. He is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Wanda M. and Albert J. Bennett of Crystal Lake, Ill., Brenda L. and Stephen J. Gavin of Aiken, S.C. and Sandra O. and Darrell S. Hurd of Lincoln; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Russell and Pauline Randall and her husband, Harland; many nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Roger Morrison. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Hubbard; a brother, Sterling Osgood; a brother-in-law, Norman Russell. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the Lincoln Cemetery.
