CORINNA – Roger L. Howes, 71, passed away Oct. 28, 2005, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 2, 1934, in Corinna, a son of Allen and Olive (Deabay) Howes. Roger attended Corinna schools and graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1954. He had been employed by the Town of Corinna for 14 years, Hartley’s Chrysler Plymouth for 24 years and was working part-time at McKenney Machine in Corinna until his retirement due to failing health. He also served as Corinna sexton from 1952-1987. He was a 40-year member of the Corinna Fire Department, the Parian Masonic Lodge and attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter and always looked forward to Sunday morning services. Roger was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed his spring fishing trips, Sunday afternoon gatherings with his family and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed following local sports teams and especially loved watching his grandson, Ryan, participate in various sports throughout the years. He is survived by his loving wife, Belva (Perkins) Howes, having recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July; two daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Stanley Norris and Janice and Blain Creighton, all of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Tricia and husband, Kevin Bubar, of Plymouth, Jamie Trask of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ashley Creighton of Bangor and Ryan Creighton of Plymouth; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Seth Bubar of Plymouth; two brothers and their wives, Alfred and Connie Howes of Largo, Fla. and Lewis and Florice Howes of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sisters, Pauline Gray of Newport and Izetta Turtlott of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. Roger will be sadly missed by many special friends. He was predeceased by a brother, H. Dean Howes; and three sisters, Charlotte Metivier, Muriel Patterson and Shirley Morse. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Rd., Corinna. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter Center, with Associate Pastor Mark Arnold and the Rev. Greg Arnold, Roger’s nephews, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Memorial donations may be made in Roger’s memory to the Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
