MACHIAS and OAKFIELD Roger Sanders, 53, died March 7, 2004, at Machias. He was born July 26, 1950, in Houlton, the son of Donald “Donkey” and Ellen (Barrows) Sanders. Roger was a graduate of the University of Maine in Machias, had lived for several years in Connecticut and Florida, and was currently a student at the University of Maine at Machias. In addition to his mother, Ellen, of Smyrna; he was survived by two brothers, Christie and his wife, Pam Sanders, of Oakfield, Alton and his wife, Cindy Sanders, of Middleton, Conn.; two sisters, Evelyn and her husband, Mark Britton, of Houlton, Shelli and her husband, Martin Adams, of Smyrna; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Auntie Lou, Kelly Lombardi and Donna Martins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald “Donkey” Sanders. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dale Holden officiating. A spring interment will be in Oakfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in his memory to a charity of their choice.
