NEW LIMERICK – Roland Donald Pelletier, 59, passed away on Feb. 2, 2004, at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous fight with Lymphoma cancer. He was born on May 13, 1944, in Sinclair, the son of Leonard J. and M. Bertha (Dufour) Pelletier. Roland grew up in Northern Aroostook County and spent much of his childhood on the Allagash River. He retired from the Maine Warden Service in 1988, after 22 years of service and was currently working as a U.S. Immigration Inspector. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1873 of Houlton. He is survived by his mother of St. Francis; he married his high school sweetheart, Viola (Fongemie) Pelletier, and they were happily married for 40 years; three children, Carol and her husband, Jon Grant, of Winslow, R. David and his wife, Carrie Pelletier, of Durham, and Susan and her husband, Andrew Hughes, of Winslow; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Jordan, and Jillian Grant, Nathan, and Eric Pelletier and Wyatt and Ross Hughes; three brothers and one sister, Leonard and his wife, Rena Pelletier Jr., of Enfield, Gary and his wife, Linda Pelletier, of Fort Kent, Melford and his wife, Betty Pelletier, of Wallagrass, and Jane Dugal of Winthrop. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Houlton, with Father Eddy Morin celebrant. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Roland’s name to the Hospice of Aroostook or the American Cancer Society Maine Affiliation, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton ME 04730. A spring interment will be held at the New Limerick Cemetery.
