BANGOR – Roland E. Mann, 96, husband of the late Elaine (Pooler) Mann, died Nov. 4, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born April 7, 1908, in Brewer, the son of Ira B. and Catherine (Roland) Mann. He operated Mann’s Chevron gas station in Brewer for 35 years. Prior to that, he worked for Sandler’s Shoe Factory and Bangor Neon. Roland was a World War II veteran serving with the Eighth Army Air Force in England, France and Germany. Roland is survived by a daughter, Kathleen L. Mann of Bangor; two brothers, Robert W. Mann of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Lloyd J. Mann of Brewer; a niece, Catherine R. Boynton of Brewer; two nephews, Frederick I. Mann of Nevada and Robert W. Mann Jr. of Vermont. In addition to his wife, Elaine, he was predeceased by a brother, Andrew F. Mann; and a sister, M. Ruth Mann. Special appreciation is given to his caregiver, Debbie Lawson, whose care allowed him to remain at home an additional year. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
