SAINT DAVID – Roland Sirois, 78, passed away peacefully June 11, 2008, with his wife, Marie Reine (Gervais); and son, Vincent, by his side at a Bangor hospital. Roland was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Daigle, son of Maxime and Marianne (Frazer) Sirois. Roland was a member of Madawaska Seniors Club and loved to socialize while playing cribbage and Charlemagne. He took pride in his apple trees and garden, until his departure. For many winters he made a snowshoe trail for him and his wife to enjoy together. They also enjoyed bowling and dancing. He enjoyed family reunions. Roland was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a longtime communicant of St. David Parish and a member of 4th degree Knights of Columbus for 20 years. He was a member of the local American Legion of Madawaska. He was employed as a machine tender at Fraser Papers for 33 years. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Louis, and Fernand “Joe”; and his grandson, Kenny. Roland is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie Reine (Gervais); daughter, Evelyn of Windsor, Conn.; daughter, Louise and grandchildren, Tommy and Steven Cloutier of Pearce, Ariz.; daughter, Lisa Bigtas and her husband, Philip, of Guam; son, Vincent and his wife, Wendy and grandchildren, Daniel and his wife, Manuela and great-grandchildren, Leah, Lorena and Lucia of Arberg, Germany; grandchildren, Mark, Lisa and Matt of Madawaska; son, Donald and his wife, Irene, of Lake Worth, Fla.; son, Mark and his wife, Emma and grandchildren, Lakota and Anika of Portland, Ore.; son, Andrew and his wife, Alisha and grandchildren, Tiara, Kaela and Jacob of San Diego; and son, Jeffrey of Windsor, Conn. Roland is also survived by his brothers, Normand and Bernadette, and Raoul and Rose Marie, both of Southington, Conn.; by his sisters, Mrs. Oneil (Rolande) Dumais of Madawaska, Mrs. Roger (Theresa) Hebert of East Millinocket, Mrs. Jeanne Chartier of Madawaska, Mrs. Xavier (Aline) Bosse of Caribou, Ms. Yvette Sirois of Madawaska, Mrs. Jean Paul (Gilberte) Jalbert of Southington, Conn., and Mrs. James (Lorette) Paradis of Newington, Conn.; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Juliette Sirois and Mrs. Albertine Sirois of St. Agatha. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at Daigle Funeral Home, Madawaska. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, at St. David Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
