BANGOR – Rosalie Liliane Violette, 84, wife of the late Patrick J. Violette, passed away peacefully Feb. 10, 2007, with her family by her side, at a Bangor hospital. Rosalie was born Sept. 3, 1922, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, the oldest daughter of Onezime and Agnes (Violette) Violette. Rosalie lived in Tarrytown, N.Y., for several years. During World War II she worked as a riveter on airplanes, where she was affectionately known as “Rosie the Riveter.” She married Patrick J. Violette November 1945. She and Patrick lived in Millinocket until his death in 1973. Later, Rosalie moved to Bangor to be near her daughters, where she was employed by the Kmart department store, until her retirement in 1987. Rosalie enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards, board games, puzzles and traveling. In Rosalie’s later years, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Richard, from 1986 to 2002, until moving to several assisted living facilities in the Bangor area. In June 2005, she moved to Westgate Manor, where she received wonderful care. Rosalie is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Richard Mitchell of Bangor and Doris and Dennis Crowe of Portland; two grandsons, Daniel P. Crowe and wife, Melanie, of Somersworth, N.H., and Dean J. Crowe of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Viola Silbo of Southington, Conn., Joan Lebel of St. Petersburg, Fla., Azilda Plante and Claudette Violette, of Pinellas Park, Fla.; one brother, Leopold Violette of Surprise, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews. Rosalie was predeceased by her husband, Patrick; three brothers, Gerard, Lionel and Robert Violette; two sisters, Alberta Roy and Laurette St. Denis. Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Kiley Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Millinocket Cemetery, Millinocket. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosalie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101.
