ANDOVER, Mass. – Rowena (Bascko) Kingsbury, 78, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, surrounded by her four children at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence Mass. She was born April 22, 1928, in Prospect, the daughter of Ella (Clark) and Joseph Bascko. She graduated from Winterport High School and along with her ex-husband, Donald Kingsbury, operated during the 1960s, what was then known as Kadick Trailer Park and River View Golf course on Route 1 in Winterport. She moved with her family to New Hampshire in 1974, where she worked in clerical positions and as a certified nurses aide. She was the Ma of Ma’s Deli at Hardware and More, Somersworth, N.H. Her greatest love was in caring for her children and grandchildren. Throughout the past 30 years Rowena helped in taking care of all of her grandchildren at some point in time. In the last 16 years she lived with her youngest daughter, Georgia Horn of Andover, Mass. The last three years of Rowena’s life her health was declining because of an aortic aneurism. Even as she slowed down Rowena was still the center of her family, whose passing will leave a huge void in the lives of all who loved her. She was Ma to everyone and always made everyone feel at home when they came into her house. She is survived by her son, Kendall Kingsbury and his wife, Kristen, of Dover, N.H.; three daughters, Hazel Kingsbury-Curtis of Somersworth, N.H., Donna (Kingsbury) Callahan and her husband, Michael, of Dover, N.H., and Georgia (Kingsbury) Horn and her husband, Paul, of Andover, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Kevin Cray of Somersworth, N.H., Melissa (Kingsbury) Fox of Rochester, N.H., Matthew Kingsbury of Dover, N.H., Nina Curtis of Somersworth, N.H., Nicholas and Steven Curtis, both of Dover, N.H., Shelby and Megan Horn of Andover, Mass.; one great-granddaughter, Azhelia Curtis of Somersworth, N.H.; and her ex-husband, Donald Kingsbury of Newport Richey, Fla.
