MAPLETON – Roy G. Brown, 80, died March 1, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou. He was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Presque Isle, the son of Harvey and Naomi (Currie) Brown. Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his return home, he went to work for the B & A Railroad as a trackman for 42 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving him is his wife of 52 years, Joyce (Moreau) Brown of Mapleton; two sons, Michael Brown and his wife, Joanne, of Mapleton and Stephen Brown of Presque Isle; a sister, Geraldine Rairdon of Houlton; grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Angel; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceasing him was a daughter, Paula Brown; sisters, Marjorie Churchill, Darlene Lindsey, Pauline Flanagan and Patricia Tims; and a brother, Harvey Brown. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. David Raymond officiating. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military committal services will be held later in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that gifts in his memory be made to the Activities Fund at the Maine Veterans’ Home, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, ME 04736.
