EAST MILLINOCKET – Ruby A. Stratton, 84, passed away at her home in East Millinocket, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. She was born Oct. 2, 1920, the daughter of John and Mildred (Elsmore) Everett. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Francis G. Stratton; six children, Kenneth G. Stratton and his wife, Mary, of Winthrop, Richard E. Stratton and his wife, Joey, of East Millinocket, Francis D. “Frank” Stratton and Barbara of East Millinocket, Stephen J. Stratton and his wife, Sheila, of Farmingdale, Jane A. St. John and her husband, Stanley, of Millinocket, Ann F. McVey and her husband, John, of Brewer; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; including two special nieces, Shirley and Lois; a very dear and special friend, Diddy; and her best friend, Sammy the cat. She was predeceased by her only sister, Alice. Ruby was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, who lived a selfless life, and lived life to the fullest. After telling her kids to clean up, her famous words were, “Did you wash the soap?” She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. To honor Ruby’s request, there will be no funeral services. The public is invited to celebrate Ruby’s life from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Ruby’s house, 10 Maple St., East Millinocket.
