PLYMOUTH – Rudolf P. Wagner, 73, died unexpectedly Aug. 24, 2006, at his Plymouth residence after a long period of ill health. He was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Udelfangen/Trier, Germany, the son of Johann and Margarethe Wagner. Rudolf was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after serving for more than 30 years. His primary job was that of an airplane hydraulics inspector, serving bases all over the world. He was married to Erna Valtink Wagner who died in 1994. He was a member of the VFW in Newport and a member of the N.R.A. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He also took great pride in his gardens at his Plymouth home. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Connie and David Wilcox of Etna; his son and his wife, Ralph and Wanda Knight of Topeka, Kan.; one granddaughter, Michelle Wilcox, who he thought the world of; five brothers, George Wagner, Klaus Wagner, Gunther Wagner, Reinuls Wagner, Johann Wagner, all of Germany; four sisters, Christine Jeter of Florida, Friea Koener, Hannelore Mohn, Renate Becker, all of Germany; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered by his friend and companion, Liz Navonis of Glenburn. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
