FORT KENT and PORTAGE Russell C. Marquis, 45, died July 27, 2005. He was born Sept. 21, 1959, in Van Buren, to the late Alfred and Dorea Marquis. Russell attended grade school in Van Buren and moved to Fort Kent in 1973. He graduated from Fort Kent Community High School in 1978. He was a star basketball athlete throughout his school years and especially enjoyed the rivalry that took place between the Fort Kent and Van Buren games. As a licensed pipefitter, he spent most of the last 25 years working for the ship building industry at Bath Iron Works in Brunswick and in Portsmouth, N.H. He enjoyed working and playing in the outdoors and had a true appreciation for the natural beauty the wilderness provides. He was most recently living in Portage Lake and enjoyed life to it’s fullest. He is survived by his two beautiful children, a daughter, 13 year old Danielle Marquis and a son, 11 year old Mitchell Marquis, both of Hollis; and their mother, Michelle Marquis; three sisters, Jeanne Marquis of Baltimore, Md., Elaine Brong and her husband, Chris, of Gersham, Ore., Diane Futch and her husband, Lee, of Arcadia, La.; two brothers, Fred Marquis of Carmel and Wayne Marquis and his wife, Alice, of Van Buren; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. There will be a time of fellowship immediately following at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Kent.
