BANGOR – Russell D. Hiatt, 60, went to be with the Lord, July 13, 2005, after complications of surgery at a local hospital. He was born May 12, 1945, in Meriden, Conn., the son of Silas and Dorothy (Sands) Hiatt. He is survived by his loving brother, Wesley Hiatt and wife, Elizabeth; his niece and nephews, who he loved dearly, Sean Hiatt and his wife, Angie and son, Maxx, Sarah Spearin, Josh Hiatt and John Hiatt, along with the true treasures of his heart, his great-nieces, Isabelle and Emma Spearin. He will be missed by the many friends he gathered along the way, but a special thought goes out to Carl and Julie and family who are feeling the weight of this great loss. Tim, Bob, Nick, Victoria, Ryan, Roger, Arnold, Laura M., Kobbie, Nate, Eric, Jasmine and Andre are but just a few of the lives he touched. Although he was a hardworker in many ways such as child care, merchandise and others he was so much more than his work. He was a well traveled man, spreading his love, encouragement and wisdom to all that knew him. Russell Hiatt faced many trials throughout his days but this did not deter him from using his humor to heal others and from the large love for his family. He had many talents and had a great love for art and photography. A true man of God, he will be deeply missed. As a family, we know he is in his keeping, he is home. A special thank you to Eastern Maine Medical Center for going above and beyond; to N.O.E. for both their thoughts and assistance during this difficult time; to Jennifer Weatherbee and Jennifer Cohen for lifting some of the weight from the family; and for Jodi, our prayer partner from S.C., who put forth so many prayers for Russ. A Celebration of Life will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at the Brewer Community Church, Brewer. For directions, please call 942-7932.
