HOLDEN – Russell W. Knowles, died unexpectedly Oct. 8, 2004, at his Holden home. He was born June 7, 1930, in Guilford, the son of Clifton and Dorothy (Waitt) Knowles Sr. Russ was the owner of Knowles Welding in Dedham for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and model airplanes. Russ was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marines. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hope A. (Elderkin) Knowles; his two daughters, Barbara Veilleux and her husband, Mark, of Holden, Patti Way and her husband, Randy, of Orrington; two grandchildren, Marie Wedge and her husband, Joey, of Tremont, Bruce Morneault of Orrington; one great-grandson, Austin Russell Wedge; three sisters, Thelma Weymouth, Janet Austin and Irene Luce. Russ was predeceased by his brother, Clifton Knowles Jr.; and his beloved grandson, Todd Morneault. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service celebrating Russ’ life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday.
