MILLINOCKET – Ruth E. Trafton, 94, entered into rest Feb. 9, 2006, at a local healthcare facility. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Bruce B. Trafton. Mrs. Trafton was born Sept. 17, 1911, in Gardner, daughter of the late James and Alice (Pollock) Lyons. She attended the Millinocket Schools, was a faithful member of the Millinocket Baptist Church and she was a member and Past Nobel Grand of the Natoma Rebekah Lodge. Ruth was married to Bruce Trafton Oct. 27, 1926. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking. She was especially fond of baking cookies for her grandsons and great-grandsons. Mrs. Trafton is survived by her daughter, Alberta “Berta” Barnes; her special grandsons, James Barnes Jr. and his wife, Debbie and Terry Barnes and his wife, Debbie, all of Millinocket; three great-grandsons, Christopher Barnes and his wife, Brenda, Brian Barnes and his wife, Amy and Matthew Barnes; and her two great-great-grandsons, Michael and Zachary. She also leaves her sister, Esther Hodsdon of Bangor; sisters-in-law, Marion Trafton of Princeton and Marge Trafton of Brewer; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Trafton was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Bruce Trafton; her infant son; her daughter, Phyllis Trafton; and a special son-in-law, James Barnes Sr. Friends are invited to a funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the Millinocket Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck. Spring Burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Katahdin Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 22 Walnut St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
