WATERVILLE – Ruth Marie (Small) Tasker, a resident of Oak Grove Nursing Home, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, surrounded by her family, after a six year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born July 14, 1917, in Plymouth, the daughter of the late Dana and Edna (Hoyt) Small of Plymouth. She was educated in the Plymouth schools and returned to receive her high school diploma in 1968. She married Ernest W. Tasker, June 2, 1934. She was a devoted wife of 60 years and a very loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Ruth and Ernest had managed the family farm on the North Road in Dixmont for many years. She was a member of the Plymouth Grange, the Ladies Sunshine Club and the Dixmont Snowmobile Club. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hackett of Fairfield; a son, Richard Tasker and his wife, Nancy, of Plymouth; a very special granddaughter, Cathy Cook and her husband, Kenneth, of Fairfield; plus five other grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grand-children. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest W. Tasker; four brothers, George, Henry, Dana Jr. and Robert Small; a sister, Violet Cliche; a grandson, Randy Veinote in 1990; a great-granddaughter, Heather Mitchell in 1977; and a very dear son-in-law, Talbot Hackett. At Ruth’s request there will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
