AMHERST – S. Marian Hokans, 73, wife of the late David H. Hokans, died July 24, 2006, at a Bangor health facility after several years of suffering from heart disease. She was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Hartford, Conn. and moved to Maine in 1990 to be with her husband. Marian was educated in the Connecticut public school system and attended the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. She was employed by the Wethersfield, Conn. school system, the Veterans’ Administration and retired from the State of Connecticut. She was secretary and an active member of the Four-Town Senior Citizen’s Club, Osborn and was also a congregant of the Amherst/Aurora Congregational Church, UCC. Marian loved her friends in the area and was very happy in Amherst. Surviving are two children and their families, Deborah Pardue and her husband, Christopher, and their children, Nathan and Bennett of Old Lyme, Conn. and Beverly Scully and her husband, Richard, and their children, Nicholas and Kathleen of Redding, Conn. Marian was extremely proud of her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in November 2005. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at the Amherst Cemetery, Tannery Loop Road, Amherst, with Pastor B. Lisa Jones of the Amherst/Aurora Congregational Church, UCC, officiating.
