S. WARREN HUGHES JR. ELLSWORTH – S. Warren Hughes Jr., 74, died June 12, 2008, at his home. He was born, Sept. 14, 1933, in Manhattan, N.Y., the son of Sylvester W. and Mary (McGrath) Hughes Sr. Warren was a husband, father, grandfather, “Adah,” brother, uncle and friend. He drank from his saucer because his cup over flowed. A Mass of Christian burial will be prayed 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Tom Farley and Father Scott Mower, celebrants. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth. At the family’s request, please do not send flowers, but rather take a cancer person to an appointment, have lunch with a senior citizen, call somebody you love or round out a foursome of golf in Warren’s memory. Contributions in Warren’s memory may be made to Mary Dow Cancer Center, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605. Warren was one of their first cancer patients.
