SINCLAIR and FORT FAIR-FIELD – Sally M. Burlock, 80, wife of Lawrence “Jack” Burlock, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2008, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born March 14, 1928, in Eastport, daughter of Harold P. and Emily (Matthews) Emery. Sally was educated in Eastport and Dorchester, Mass., school systems and was married to Lawrence “Jack” Burlock, June 10, 1950. While residing in Fort Fairfield, Mrs. Burlock was very active in civic affairs and served on S.A.D. No. 20 School Board, where she served as a member and chairperson and was president of Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital Board of Directors. She was a past member of Caribou Country Club, and was, at the time of her death, a member of Pasadena Country Club of Gulfport, Fla. Sally was also very active in local politics, having served as Fort Fairfield Republican chair-person. Mrs. Burlock was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fair-field, for several years, where she was a member of the choir. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burlock was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Harold “Bucky” Emery. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence “Jack” Burlock of Sinclair; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Helen Burlock of Bangor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sally Ann and Al Cyr of Caribou and Susan and Matt Nightingale of Yarmouth; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Sally Emery of Eastport and Ross and Lorraine Emery of Cape Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Courtney Cyr of Caribou, Adam Cyr of Portland, John Burlock of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joshua and Ethan Nightingale, both of Yarmouth; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A private funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Sally to Fort Fairfield Public Library, 339 Main St., Fort Fairfield, ME 04742 or the American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
