DENNYSVILLE – Sam passed away Feb. 15, 2005, at Down-east Community Hospital after a long illness. Sam was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Edmunds, the son of Guy Leroy Ward and Evelyn Hayward Ward. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Wilder Ward; one brother, Merton Ward of Edmunds; one sister, Pauline Tjaden of Lancaster, Mass. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his special friend, Teddy. Sam was a life member of the Dennis River Sportsman Club and was known for his grace as a fly fisherman and catching the elusive Atlantic Salmon. He was well known for his sportsmanship. Sam was a World War II veteran with the 150th Engineer Combat Division and his unit received numerous medals and citations. Sam’s wish was cremation and his ashes will be spread over the places he loved with burial of some at Dennysville Cemetery.
