WAKEFIELD, MASS – Sandra Clara (Gallo) Cook, 85, died Fri., March 11, 2005, at a Burlington, Mass., medical center with her family by her side. Born in Millinocket April 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Felicia (Nicolazzo) Gallo. Mrs. Cook was a graduate of Stearns High School in Millinocket, the Massachusetts Memorial School of Nursing, and Boston University School of Nursing. Mrs. Cook was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed in Texas. Before retirement she worked as a nursing supervisor at the West Roxbury V.A. Hospital. Mrs. Cook was an avid reader and spent many hours quilting, needle pointing and entertaining friends and family. She was a member of the Wakefield Arts & Crafts and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Epsilon Beta chapter. Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frederick A. Cook; her daughter, Joanne Chapman and her husband, John, of Falmouth; a son, Frederick A. Jr. and his wife, Elaine, of Port Washington, N.Y.; three sisters, Joan Ippoliti and her husband, Renato, Angeline Gallo, Annie Lyons and her husband, Phillip, all of Millinocket; a sister-in-law, Vivian Moore, of Westboro, Mass.; and five grandchildren, John Jr. and Lindsey Chapman and Freddie, Jimmy and Thomas Cook. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cook was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Michael Gallo; and two sisters, Marion Colangelo and Theresa French. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Church, Lynnfield, Mass., Sat., March 19, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, before the Mass from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery, Millinocket, in the spring.
