VERONA ISLAND – Sandra Jane (Snowman) Harvey, 66, died peacefully Dec. 8, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Orland, the daughter of Albea and Blanche Opal Snowman. She attended the Orland schools, and graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1957. On April 21, 1960, she married Lionel S. Harvey in Orland. Sandra resided in Ledyard, Conn. for 32 years, where she worked in the liquor industry for 23 years. Upon retiring in 1998, Sandra with her husband Lionel returned to Verona Island. Sandra was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Riverside Chapter No. 123, of Orland, the Orland United Methodist Church, Verona Island Women’s Club, and the Verona Islanders Club. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan; she also enjoyed country music; especially the Frye Mountain Band and Wade Dow, and friends at the Bucksport Senior Center. She loved to play cards as much as she loved people. Sandra will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lionel S. Harvey of Verona Island; her daughter, Susan Christinziano and favorite son-in-law, Vincent of Wells; three sisters, Margaret Gilley, Jeanne Flannery and her husband, Edward, and Tippy Gross and her husband, Cuddy; one brother, Douglas Snowman and special sister-in-law, Charlotte, all of the Bucksport area, and 19 nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Lionel Douglas Harvey in 1991; two brothers, Vincent Roi and Robert Roi; two sisters, Katherine Kennedy and Molly LeClair. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Orland United Methodist Church, with Pastor Peter Remick and Pastor Jan Rhenow officiating. Spring interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport. Following the service a gathering for conversation and refreshments will be held at church hall.
