BANGOR – Sandra L. Hurd, 50, died May 12, 2007, at her Bangor home, after a two-year battle with colon cancer. She was born March 4, 1957, in Bangor, the youngest child of Stanley and Marion (Huskins) Getchell. Sandra was a 1975 graduate of Brewer High School. She was employed for many years by the Brewer IGA Coffee Shop and until her illness, worked in the cafeteria at Bangor High School. She was very grateful for the kindness of her co-workers at the cafeteria during her illness. Sandra loved shopping, crafts, knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and her pets. Her granddaughter, Mackenzie, always put a big smile on her face. She is survived by her mother of Brewer; her loving husband, Lawrence Hurd Jr. of Bangor; daughter and her husband, Heather and Edward Mercier of Brewer; son, Andrew Hurd and his girlfriend, Danielle Dube, of Bangor; her sweet granddaughter, Mac-kenzie Mercier of Brewer; sister and her husband, Pamela and Gerard Concannon of Portland; brother and his wife, Garry Getchell and Candice of Newburgh; and nephew, Christopher Concannon of Portland. She was predeceased by her father in 2006. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating.
