DOVER-FOXCROFT – Sarah Delora (Steadman) Severance, 65, wife of Everett C. Severance, passed away peacefully in the loving and warm embrace of our Heavenly Father in the early morning of Dec. 29, 2004, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Dover-Foxcroft the daughter of Walter L. and Ivy (Merrill) Steadman. Sarah had graduated from Foxcroft Academy in the Class of 1957, later that year on Sept. 10, 1957, she married Everett. The majority of her working years were at Judkin’s Shop & Save, the Piscataquis Observer, and in the main office of Foxcroft Academy. Sarah’s love and encouragement of the students at F. A. is how she is most remembered. She was a loving wife to her husband, Everett, and loving mother to her two children, Mari-Jo McLaughlin of Fort Fairfield, Carl Severance of Leadville, Colo. She is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Higgins and Dorothy Anderson, both of Dover-Foxcroft; four grandchildren, James, Brittany, Brendan, Kaitlyn; several nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her brother, Howard Huntington; and her very dear and long time friend, Marilyn (Taylor) Burgoyne. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Neil Gastonguay officiating. A reception will follow at the United Methodist Church, Dover-Foxcroft. A spring interment will be in the Gray Cemetery.
