EAST MACHIAS – Sarah L. (Jestings) Lund, 88, went to be with the Lord April 18, 2008. She was born March 7, 1920, in East Machias, the daughter of the late Manley and Lona (Sheridan) Jestings. Sarah was a lifetime resident of East Machias and a graduate of Washington Academy in 1938. She married Harvard B. Lund, Oct. 1, 1938. Sarah loved her home and her family. She worked at Eddie Fosses clothing store for three years and worked for 21 years as a certified nurse’s aide at Marshall Manor, Machias. She is survived by a daughter, Marlene Hawbaker of East Machias; two granddaughters, Sarah Brown and husband, Gene, of Idaho and Ruth Chartrand and husband, Chris, of Addison; seven great-grandchildren, John Russell, Jeremiah, Jenna and Jane Hall, all of Idaho and Elizabeth Chartrand and twins, Kaitlyn and Nicole Chartrand, all of Addison; sisters-in-law, Polly Jestings and Judy Jestings, both of Calais; brother-in-law, Maurice Lund; sister-in-law, Mary Campbell, both of East Machias; sister-in-law, Edith Walls of Utah; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Harvard B. Lund in 1994; a son, Harvard R. Lund in 1967; brothers, Pete Jestings in 2005 and Eugene Jestings in 2007; special son-in-law, Bernie Hawbaker in 1993; a very special grandmother, Sarah (Jestings) Reynolds in 1946; and a great-grandson, Zachary Chartrand in 1998. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias, officiated by Pastor Jeff Henderson.
