MILLINOCKET and EUGENE, Ore. – Lula MacKenzie Judkins, 93, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, with her two daughters by her side at the home of her daughter in Eugene, Ore. She was born Sept. 16, 1914, in Millinocket, the daughter of James and Carrie (Skinner) MacKenzie. As a teenager, Lula worked for George Daisey at Sourdahunk sporting camps. She continued in domestic service for Mrs. Juanita Chase at the Rice Farm and then for the family of Mr. Robert Hume at Great Northern Hotel. She was the first telephone operator for Great Northern Paper Co., a position she held for 13 and one half years, retiring in June 1954. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Millinocket. Lula was an excellent cook and she enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting for family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Marie Bouley and her husband, Al, of Eugene, Ore., and Patricia Healey and her husband, Terrance, of Hawaii; nine grandchildren, Robert Bouley and his wife, Laura, of Eugene, Ore., William Bouley of Virginia, Ralph and David Bouley of Arizona, Desiree Strong and her husband, Robert, of Oklahoma, Michael Healey of Hawaii, Robin Plante and her husband, Normand, of Alaska, Terrance “Chip” Healey and his wife, Peggy, of Texas, and Kathleen Goings of Georgia; 16 great-grandchildren, Bonnie Jean, Brittany, Bethany and Joseph of Arizona, Christopher of Pennsylvania, Bryan, Shannon, Austin, Terrance III and Kathleen of Texas, Kenneth of Florida, Daniel of Arkansas, Jared of Oklahoma, Devin of Germany, Gabriel and Leilah of Georgia; nine great-great-grandchildren, Aaron, Haylee, Gabriel, Selene, Devin and Angel of Arizona, Nathaniel, Jacob and Brandon of Texas; four sisters, Barbara, Katherine and Sylvia of Connecticut and Betty Lou of Augusta; five brothers, James and Garfield of Millinocket, Gerald and Ronald of Plymouth and Enos of Connecticut; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lula will also be missed by her favorite sister-in-law, Christie MacKenzie of Plymouth; a beloved niece, Sharon McDonald of Bangor; special friends and neighbors, Betty Wheaton and Polly and Roger Boynton of Millinocket. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph R. Judkins, May 2, 1995; four brothers, Kenneth, John, Thomas and Robert; and two sisters, Dorothy (Castle) Thomen and Annie Castle. Funeral services will be held in Millinocket at a date to be announced. Spring interment will be at South Side Cemetery, Mapleton. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
