LINCOLN – Sherwood Cony Hyde, 70, husband of Bertha (Robichaud) Hyde, passed away July 23, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous, three-month battle to stay with his family. He was born Nov. 10, 1937, in Lincoln, the son of Cony and Josephine (Lyons) Hyde. Barney was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in intelligence and communications. He was faithfully devoted to his faith, his family values, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. As a reward for his hard fought battle, he has been called home to be with his Lord. He will be sadly missed by his family, his friends and all who encountered his faith. In addition to his wife of 47 years, Bertha, he is survived by a daughter, Marjolaine Harriett of Winslow and her four children, Tyler, Lily, Annie Rose and Faustina Harriet; a son, Christopher Hyde of San Jose, Calif., and his daughter, Raegan Harrington; a sister, Iola McLeary of Millinocket; a brother, Dana Hyde of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Caroline Ewing. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Myles Cyr, presiding. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
