LEE – Shirley Viva Severance, 76, wife of the late Earl L. Severance Sr., died July 5, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1927, the daughter of Searle and Frances Rideout, but was raised by her stepmother, Ethel Rideout. Shirley enjoyed gardening and flowers. Her Pug dogs were special to her. She is survived by three sons, Robert of Winslow, Earl Jr. and Randy, both of Lee; two daughters, Linda Gowan of Old Town and Charlotte DePeter of Waterboro; a sister, Dorothy Lee of Mattawamkeag; a brother, Jimmy Rideout of Parhump, Nev.; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Turner; a son, Ronald Severance Sr.; two brothers, Paul Rideout and Searle Rideout; and a sister, Vivian Vance. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Mitch Bickford officiating.
